Abstract
Korean literature related to public knowledge about and attitudes toward epilepsy was reviewed. The literature indicates significant limitations in knowledge about and negative attitudes toward epilepsy in Korean society. There still remains misconceptions about the cause and treatability of epilepsy and negative attitudes and discriminations with regard to the employment, driving, marriage, childbearing, and interpersonal relationship of persons with epilepsy. Nationwide educational programs either through media or school education are urgently needed to improve knowledge about and attitudes toward epilepsy.
